Le bevande zuccherate (SSB) sono la fonte primaria di zuccheri aggiunti nella dieta dei bambini, con un consumo elevato comunemente osservato nelle aree più povere dove anche la prevalenza dell’obesità è più alta. Le associazioni tra consumo di SSB e obesità nei bambini sono state ampiamente segnalate. Nel marzo 2016 è stata annunciata una doppia tassa sull’industria delle bevande analcoliche (SDIL) a carico dei produttori di bevande per incoraggiare la riformulazione degli alimenti essenziali nel Regno Unito, poi implementata nell’aprile 2018. Abbiamo esaminato le traiettorie della prevalenza dell’obesità all’età di 4-5 anni e da 10 a 11 anni, 19 mesi dopo l'implementazione della SDIL, complessivamente e per sesso e deprivazione.
